You shouldn't need draft control for using a back blade to grade the driveway. Only use for draft control is a bottom plow. In draft mode the lift should only raise during the last two inches of travel on the control lever. You can move the quadrant backward or forward to adjust this. Rick, it sounds like your hydraulics are working normal, when in the draft position the hydraulics operate differantly, they are controled by the movement of the draft spring that is attatched from the hydraulic rocker to below your seat.

Observe if the load drops and how fast it takes. A fully functional hydraulic system will keep a load in the raised position for months.

Forward is neutral or unengaged and back is engaged. If you tractor has draft control there is another lever on the right side under your seat. Lever pointing forward is in draft control and rotated back pointing up is no draft control.
